Children Learn Quickly

“For children, play is as natural as breathing — and as necessary.”
Mimi Broadsky Chenfeld
U.S. early educator and author

Children are taught using a variety of personalized approaches.  Each English lesson includes learning techniques specifically tailored to the age, language proficiency, and individual interests of the child.  All lessons incorporate flexible, play-based activities that help children learn English in a relaxed, stress-free environment.

Play-based activities include hands-on activities using interactive music, spelling, phonics, and vocabulary games.  Other teaching resources, such as vocabulary sticker books, flash cards, high-interest reading passages, and picture dictionaries, prompt a child’s imagination and provide the basis for deeper understanding and connection.

ESL children benefit especially from personalized visual supports, which include:

  • Photos
  • Drawings
  • Objects
  • Gestures
  • Print and Environmental Cues

One-on-one instruction in reading and language arts helps children develop the skills necessary for academic success.  Reading is taught using a combination of three complementary methods:

  • Auditory Training – ear training to prepare the child for phonics
  • Phonics – knowledge of letter sounds
  • Whole Language – smooth application of phonics into unified stories

Each lesson is strengthened and supported by previously learned material and engaged, active involvement is the goal.

Every child is encouraged to discover the joy of learning.
